Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on 16 July 1990. He was raised by a Muslim father and a Pentecostal Christian mother while growing up in an extended family of 12 female siblings. Wizkid became a lover of music as early as age 11. Many great artists, such as Fela Kuti and King Sunny Ade, and Bob Marley, were those he looked up to. Wizkid formed The Glorious Five group along with his church buddies. They released a joint album. Balogun in 2006 had been known as Lil Prinz before he changed his name to Wizkid.

Career Beginning

Wizkid went to university after he graduated from high school. He ultimately dropped out of college to pursue a music career. At the age of 15, Wizkid started forming valuable connections within the music business and learning from musicians who had already been successful.
