Drake beats Drake by topping his record for the most-streamed album in a single day in Spotify’s history with his new album Certified Lover Boy. The Rapper’s previous album, Scorpion, was the record holder with 170million streams a single day.
Certified Lover Boy album also became the most-streamed album within 24hours in Apple’s Music history and the most streamed artist, 2021.
Earlier this week, GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings released Kanye West Donda Album. It had almost 100 million streams in its first 24 hours on Spotify, making the singer the second-most streaming in a single day in Spotify’s history and the most in 2021.
Certified Lover Boy is the Rapper’s sixth album and includes a long list of rappers, including Rick Ross, Future, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, and many more. It contains 21 tracks. OVO Sound released the album in partnership with Republic Records on September 3, 2021, at midnight. It was expected to be released early this year but was delayed.
Two days to the release of the Album, Billboards were placed throughout the United States, Canada, and Nigeria revealing the guest artists. Atalanta billboard announced 21 Savage, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Future on Atalanta Billboard, Lil Durk was announced on Chicago billboard, and Jay Z was New York billboard. Tems was announced on Lagos billboard, Ty Dolla Sign and Giveon took were on California billboard. While Miami billboard announced Rick Ross, Cleveland billboard announced Kid Cudi, Houston billboard got Travis Scott referred to as “the hometown hero”, and Lil Wayne announced on Toronto billboard.
Certified Lover Boy album has been on a top trend for two days now, and it has received a lot of positive reactions from social media. It won’t be a surprise if the album stays on-trend for a week.
