Ghana’s King of rap Michael Owusu Addo known professionally in the music fraternity as Sarkodie is one of the greatest rappers there is, emerging from a city called Tema, Ghana. He is among the few rappers whose contribution to the Ghanaian music industry is something to write home about.
Through his contributions, many accolades have been given out to him for the good work done, and as he is known to be the best when it comes to rap, and songwriting in a decade, releasing a hit rap song to shake up Ghana’s music scenes.
He is the greatest and never disappoints fans, family, and country wherever he finds himself. Sarkcess boss as good as he is has set in again to release his new album titled NO PRESSURE which will surely have good songs on it since when it comes to putting good tracks together to make an album King Sark is always on point.
Initially, the album was set to be launched in Kumasi on the 9th of July, 2021 but after a couple of meetings between the king of rap and managers they have decided to shift the set date which was 9th to July 30, 2021, and right after this new development, Sarkodie himself took social media to announce this sudden change of date to his fans and following both Ghana and abroad.
On his Twitter handle Sarkodie said; “SarkNation, I know how excited you all are for my new album #NoPressure. That feeling inspired me every day in the studio to push myself and my songwriting to the limit. I have never been more determined to make an album that you all love deeply #NoPressure. To deliver the album u all deserve, I need a little more time. There has been a hold-up clearing some samples that is why we have changed the date. The new release date 30th July 2021. Thank you all for your love and support”.
After posting this sudden change of date and time on his Twitter page, some fans and followers were happy for his decision and agreed with him on it while others were also not that happy because they think Sarkodie knows better and should not try to take them for granted and he always like changing dates, time, and venues to his programs these days. But apart from all these back and forth emotions, this 9th album of Sarkodie titled #NoPressure will surely be the talk of the town as anytime he changes the date to an album lunch something big always comes with it.
Here are some of the remarks for his fans and followers after seeing the post;
Although Sarkodie’s new album No Pressure wouldn’t take off as planned by the management of Sarkcess music there is a saying that “good things always come after bad thing or incident” because of this saying Sarkodie instead of No Pressure album on 9th July in Kumasi, he and his team have chosen that date which is 9th July to lunch his new track featuring Kwesi Arthur titled “COACHELLA”.
Upon waiting for him on the 30th of July to release his new album No Pressure in Kumasi, Sarkodie as a king he also has Eight (8) powerful albums to his advantage namely; Makye, Rapperholic, Sarkology, Highest, Block love, Mary, Alpha, T.M.G of which five are Studio Albums, Two Live albums, and EPs, and one being a collaborative album he had with fellow Ghanaian rapper Jay So.
Sarkodie as a rapper in 2009 who had just stepped into the lime lite was not that easy for him as he was just a little fish amid big and wild fishes but as he was destined for greatness, Obede Pon Bede as known back in the day was able to release his first album titled Makye which became a hit as it had then top musicians like Kwaw Kese, J-Town, Sawy, and R2Bees.
With the love and support shown to him by fans after releasing Makye album in 2009, Sarkodie hits to the studios on June 8th, 2012 to record his second album Rapperholic which featured great artists like Efya, Mugeez, Obrafour, EL, etc. this debut album was great as it was backed by three strong singles: “You Go Kill Me”, “Living Legend”, and “Onyame Nhyira. Through Rapperholic, Sarkodie gains a feature on BET’s Hip Hop Award Cypher with AB-Soul and Talib Kweli.
Sarkology be the ishe as most people refer to this third album of the Sarkcess music boss Sarkodie was released in January 2014. The being one of his greatest albums also had artists in the person of Wizkid, Ice Prince, Davido, fuse ODG, Stonebwoy, Silvastone, Lil Shaker, and others feature on it.
On 12 September 2015, Mary, a memorable fourth album of King Sark was released to recall and pay respect to his grandmother who died in 2012. My grandmother is a mother, father, God, and Friend to me, he said these heartfelt words on the day of the album lunch.
The Highest, this fifth album of Sarkodie which was released on the 8th of September 2017 was the album that gave him an upper hand over his colleagues in the music industry as he had many international collaborations which made him popular both in his country Ghana and Abroad. The Highest Album had nineteen songs.
Alpha a six-track EP was released in June 2019. It featured guest acts like Joy B and the Late Ebony Reigns, may her gentle soul rest in peace. Right after it was released Sarkodie went to the studios again on the 20th of December 2019 as Christmas day of love and sharing was just around the corner, Sarkodie didn’t disappoint his fans and country as he gave birth to his awesome album titled Black Love which also had Maleek Berry, Stonebwoy, Idris Elba Tekno, and Kizz Daniel present on it.
From his previous albums released, one could tell from the above information that he always takes time whenever it comes to making an album and whom to feature on his albums and truly speaking from experience and more insights I can say that this new album of Sarkodie would be the best album he has ever than in his music carrier as he has to put in much effort, time and money into doing this said album which would be launched in Kumasi the capital city of Ashanti Region, Ghana.
